arablaws arablaws.org is a article and directory site. http://www.arablaws.org/article Highlight: "Expert Gamer" Contest winners From July 7th to July 23rd, 2006, gamers from around the world competed in the first annual "Expert Gamer" contest sponsored by ExpoTV.com and GamePro.com. The contest provided an opportunity for gamers to demonstrate their skills by creating original product reviews (also known as videopinions) of the games they love (or hate) and uploading them to ExpoTV.com for their friends to cast their vote. Voters determined the 15 semi-finalists and the winning videopinions were selected by a panel of expert judges. They scored entries on creativity, video production quality, and the contestants' depth of knowledge in the games they reviewed. The five Grand Prize winners received awesome prizes (including a Sony high-definition flat screen TV) and they were featured on ExpoTV's video-on-demand network. You can find entries from the "Expert Gamer" contest here. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Highlight_Expert_Gamer_Contest_winners.htm 30th Dec,2009 In Honor of Veterans Day In honor of Veterans' Day, we're highlighting this really cool clip from the film Speed and Angels in which director Peyton Wilson takes you into the exhilarating world of U.S. Navy fighter pilots. Children often dream big about what they want to do when they grow up. The movie follows two young naval officers fighting to pursue their dream of becoming fighter pilots - and then fighting to stay alive as they deploy to Iraq.On a related note, did you know that what we call Veterans' Day was originally called "Armistice Day" - because it's the anniversary of the agreement ending World War I? All of the major hostilities of that conflict were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 when the Germans signed an armistice. (See, the Google Video Blog can be educational as well as entertaining.) http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/In_Honor_of_Veterans_Day.htm 30th Dec,2009 Attention college football fans It's college football season, and one of the best parts in my view is the intense rivalry -- when we see our favorite local teams go head to head, each claiming to be the "best team in town" for another year. (And, in the case of Michigan vs. Ohio State this weekend maybe even the "best team in the country").While the hits, fumbles, and touchdowns keep us all watching, we think -- and we hope you agree -- that some of the greatest moments in college football come from the fans. Think tailgates, reunions, painted faces, mascots and cheerleaders, where that spirit of rivalry thrives and brings us back for the next year's match. To celebrate the fans who keep the spirit alive, we've launched this rivalry page to showcase some of the best off-the-field moments in college football. So get out your mobile phone, digital camera and digital video recorder to capture the best game-day highlights and share them with millions of fans on Google Video. If you don't, it'll be the other guys who will win the title of "best fans in town" -- and that can't happen, right? And if you're headed to the game, be on the lookout -- Google Video might be coming to a stadium near you. (Not going to the game? Capture and share your best armchair quarterback or couch outbursts with millions of football fans.)-- Shaluinn Fullove, for the Google Video team http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Attention_college_football_fans.htm 30th Dec,2009 After The Elections - Then What? More than 170 of these New America events are now on Google Video, with new videos being added each week.A few highlights are featured below -- detailing some of the most important issues for this election and beyond: http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/After_The_Elections_-_Then_What.htm 30th Dec,2009 Highlight: I'm Thankful for Net Neutrality Thanksgiving dinner has just ended - belts have been loosened, there's pumpkin pie stains on mom's white linen tablecloth, and all that tryptophan pumping through your body is making you sleepy. What else is there left to do? Well, this is usually the time when everyone goes around the table and shares what they're thankful for. You've heard it all before: I'm thankful for my family, my dog, and Grandma's chocolate-pecan-pumpkin-pie.This year, I challenge you to think outside the box. What are you really thankful for? Doesn't this big guy deserve some sort of recognition? So here I go - I'm thankful for the Internet. Those millions of people who watch Internet movies on YouTube translate into millions of dollars, but how do you get a piece of the online cash? It's a lot easier than you think. In this article, you will discover some easy ways to make money online: All you need is a YouTube account and some online videos! There are several ways to make money on YouTube. In a previous article, I showed you how to make money on YouTube using Google Analytics data and the new YouTube Insight tool to discover what makes a YouTube video popular, and how to cash in on this information. In this article, I will show you how to use advertisements from AdBrite, as well as specialized niche marketing, to make even more money on YouTube! The best and foremost way to make money on YouTube using advertisements is using the "InVideo" ad-serving tool from advertising behemoth Adbrite. Adbrite, at adbrite.com, serves 473 million impressions to 59,751 web sites every day (according to its website). Some of the companies that use Adbrite include Alexa, iWon, Excite and Tickle (all well-known e-commerce companies). The way Adbrite's InVideo ad service works, and how it will make you money on YouTube, is simple. Basically, Adbrite inserts an ad onto your YouTube video and you make money every time someone watches your YouTube clip. It's so easy, it's surprising that more YouTube users aren't doing this.First, you will need a video from YouTube. For obvious ethical and moral reasons, this video should be owned by you and not contain any copyright material (including NO copyrighted music, so that rules out the latest Britney Spears song).Go to Youtube download website KeepVid.com and copy your YouTube URL into KeepVid's entry box. Click on the "Download" button and KeepVid will give you a weird-looking link to your YouTube video. COPY this link, but don't download it to your computer.Once you've gotten your specialized copy of your YouTube video (it is basically a direct link to the flash video file on YouTube's server), go to Adbrite.com (you should sign up for an account a head of time). Log onto your Adbrite account and go to the InVideo page. Fill out the form, enter in your descriptions and keywords and paste your YouTube link into the form.AdBrite will then reformat your video and give you a code that you can paste on your website or blog. It uses your YouTube video, but puts advertisements on it. It's a fast and easy way to make easy money on YouTube. Now, every time someone watches your YouTube video on your web site or blog, they will also be shown an ad and you will be paid money from Adbrite. Making money on YouTube has never been easier! http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/How_to_Make_Money_on_YouTube_with_Easy_In-Video_Advertising.htm 30th Dec,2009 Top Ten Video Blogs Great Original Video Content from Around the WebThere's some great original video content on the net, if you know where to look. Wikipedia currently defines video blogging as "a form of blogging for which the medium is video. Entries are made regularly and often combine embedded video or a video link with supporting text, images, and other metadata." TV and film director Joss Whedon recently called attention to the phenomenon of video blogging with his Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, although to be fair, this was actually an episodic TV mini-series made available through the internet, and maybe not technically a proper blog. For that reason, it hasn't made this top ten list. For this list of top ten video blogs, the criteria was simple:    * It had to contain original videos created by the vloggers (video bloggers). No compilations of other people's content gathered from YouTube (although some compilation blogs out there have some great stuff). It also couldn't be merely material recorded from TV, although occasional clips of news events was OK.    * The site had to appear as if work was ongoing, not a project someone had started, but abandoned a while back.    * As one of those annoying everyday practical matters, it had to be a site I was able to find while I was researching this article. The entries here are entertaining and often informative. Please note, some of the content on some of the sites may not be appropriate for children. Please use your own judgement. Here they are: the top ten video blogs!1. The Green Children are a musical duo from Norway and England, who decided to use their talent to do something good for the world. Milla Sunde and Tom Bevan use their music to raise awareness of microcredit and help the world's poor. They started The Green Children Foundation. They have a video blog on YouTube, which features their wonderful music.2. It's Jerry Time! bills itself as "true tales from the life of Jerry." It's an innovative series of short animated videos, depicting humorous or frustrating events in the life of unlucky everyman Jerry. The videos are created by Jerry Zucker and Orrin Zucker. The series won a 2007 Emmy Award in the Broadband Variety category.3. Epic Fu aims to be "the owner's manual for the web." It's a hip, informative video magazine of all things cool on the web, created by anchor Zadi Diaz and Steve Woolf. A recent episode, titled "Back to School Deathmatch," discusses angry professors and also follows up on a recent report about pro-Tibetan video bloggers detained in China during the Beijing Olympics. I found out about at least one of the sites in this list by watching Zadi's show.4. MobLogic.tv presents an informative web show with Lindsay Campbell. Recently, they've been covering the Democratic Convention in Denver. They often do whole episodes on single topics, such as in "Dude, Where's My Electric Car?"5. Rocketboom is a daily news blog of internet culture. A recent video covered early video games and Mayan ideas about the afterlife.6. Ill Doctrine, created by Jay Smooth, is a hip-hop opinion blog featuring insightful video posts by its creator, such as "How To Tell People They Sound Racist." He also has a great blog roll, where I found some of the other sites featured here.7. Doogtoons features cartoons by animator Doug Bresler. They also produced a new retro 80's-style music video, "Indian Jones," featuring L.B. Rayne.8. Brave New Films is the brainchild of political video producer Robert Greenwald. It is a group blog where Brave New Films posts its own videos, but videos by others are featured as well. A recent Brave New Films video interviews filmmaker Michael Moore.9. Operation Itch, created by Davis Fleetwood, is a funny, irreverent look at political activism. A recent entry exhorts us to help Obama girl change the world.10. Quiet Library is a comedy troop, posting videos of their silly sketches. They have received an Emmy nomination for outstanding comedy for broadband. Recent entries include "Famous Artist Pictionary." http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Top_Ten_Video_Blogs.htm 30th Dec,2009 10 Best Celebrity Blog Sites 10) JezebelThough many celebrity gossip sites are obsessed with unapologetic superficiality, Jezebel.com takes the slightly higher road by mixing in some actual news with all the fluff. This is a good last stop on the celeb gossip train because it is pseudo-intellectual and provides a bit of guilt free schadenfreude. That's right, they use words like "schadenfreude."Most Common Celebrities: Gossip Girls stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise, Tyra Banks, Lindsay Lohan, Sarah Palin, Barack Obama9) Hollywood RagIf you don't want to be dealing with all of them big words, this site should give you plenty of shiny pictures, gossip, and links to celebrismut. They even make up dumb words like I just did. Most Common Celebrities: Britney Spears, Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Paris Hilton, Victoria Beckham8) The SuperficialThis site is obviously unapologetically superficial, however in that way it's a much more straightforward way of celebrity blog entertainment. Their layout is professionally glossy looking and they're backed by E! Entertainment, so their efforts to distract you are very well funded. Most Common Celebrities: Christina Aguilera, Lauren Conrad, Beyonce, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie7) Pink Is The New BlogThis is the poor man's Perez Hilton. It has more attitude and commentary than substance, but it's engaging nonetheless. Most Common Celebrities: Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Miley Cyrus, Lance Bass, Britney, anyone from The Hills6) DlistedDlisted.com is a very thorough and limitless celebrity gossip blog. It's a great starting point because it links to many other sites and is updated frequently. This would be the best bet if you have a life and only time to visit one celeb blog. Most Common Celebrities: All of the above.5) JossipIf you're looking for a flashier and easier to digest version of Gawker, Jossip.com is a good choice. Whereas Gawker makes you click to other blogs in their network to get more diverse pieces of news, Jossip integrates everything on one blog and makes fairly decent editorial choices. The downside is this page is not updated every five freaking minutes like some of us require. Most Common Celebrities: Madonna, politicians, Anderson Cooper, anyone from Gossip Girl, political pundits4) Best Week EverThere's no doubt this is the funniest celebrity gossip blog. It incorporates lots of video and good comedy writing. Not everyone goes to entertainment blogs to have a laugh, but if you're ever in the mood for real-time comedic gossip, bestweekever.tv won't let you down. Most Common Celebrities: Very diverse celebrity topics, but include the inevitable Gossip Girl coverage.3) GawkerGawker.com is the gold standard for pseudo intellectual celebrity dish. The weirdest thing about this site is it makes you care about a bunch of New York socialites you had never even heard of. That can be very disconcerting, but it's just the spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. Lots of successful writers, entrepreneurs, and actually interesting people are discussed here. For that, they had to be in my top three. Most Common Celebrities: politicians, media professionals, novelists, New York socialites, and everyone from that freaking Gossip Girl show.2) Perez HiltonLove him or hate him, there's a reason that Perez Hilton is the single most successful blog personality on the internet: His page is regularly updated without overkill and his commentary is brilliantly engaging. That's right, even a picture of James Van Der Beek with the caption "sup," is enough to warrant returned visits. Even when you find Perez mildly annoying, without noticing you'll breeze through 10 pages of cheap MS Paint drawings on paparazzi shots. Most Common Celebrities: Madonna, Miley Cyrus, politicians, Heidi Montag, Travis Barker, Linday Lohan, Katie Holmes, J-Lo, Lance Bass, Pete Wentz, Jessica Simpson, Simon Cowell, George Michael, High School Musical stars, The Hils stars, and the people from that one show, you know, about the gossiping with the girls and guys and all that.1) TMZTMZ.com is trashy, a waste of time, addictive, and sometimes even depressing, but they break a lot of big celebrity stories and almost every other celebrity gossip blog feeds off of their leads. I couldn't decide whether to place this blog first or last because it represents the lowest common denominator on the web. Regardless, you should probably go to this site if you want to completely escape the real world. It's also a lot cheaper than buying plane tickets to LA.Most Common Celebrities: Anyone with an IMDB listing in LA who leaves their house. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Best_Celebrity_Blog_Sites.htm 30th Dec,2009 How to Promote Your Video Blog Promoting a video blog is similar to promoting a blog, except that you do have a few more places where you can promote. Of course, you will want to use all of the same methods that you use to promote a website or other product as well.Begin with the marketing basics, for example Google AdWords, forum marketing, article marketing, marketing to newsgroups, cross promoting between websites, and buying advertisement in ezines and on websites. Next, let's move to the more 'blog specific' promotions. The primary key to successfully promoting a blog is to pay attention to the Web 2.0 elements. If you have social networking profiles, you should post a link to your video blog there. If a blog is included, you can post your actual video blog there as well. Just be cautious to change the textual description of the video, so that you are not penalized by the search engines.Search "social bookmarking list" through google search engine. Next, hit the top directories, and make sure that you get listed in the search engines as well. The top blog directories include:    * Blog Catalog - www.blogcatalog.com    * Blog Directory - www.blogs.botw.org    * Blog Hub - www.bloghub.com    * Blog Flux - www.blogflux.comThe top video blog directories are:    * Video Blog Directory - www.videoblogdirectory.com    * Vlog Directory - www.vlogdir.com    * MeFeedia - www.mefeedia.com/feeds    * Blog Universe - www.bloguniverse.comDon't Forget To PingNext step, make sure that you ping every time you post. This can easily be done through a service for example Ping-O-Matic at http://www.pingomatic.com. Do this step each and every time you post, so that all of the top directories, where you have already listed your video blog, know that you have updated. This furthermore helps with search engine listings. You should entrench yourself in the blogging society. Even though there are literally a huge number of video blogs and millions of blogs as well, never think for a minute that it isn't a community. It is without a doubt. Start by becoming an active member in one or two of the many video blogging/blogging forums. Not only will you learn a great deal, but you will also get traffic to your video blog. As you build up relationships there, you will also get mentioned in other people's video blogs. You also have to visit blogs and video blogs that relate to yours in some way. Comments and trackbacks are a huge part of blogging, as well as video blogging. You should post comments on other people's blog and video blogs on a regular basis, and leave a link that leads back to your video blog. Make sure that your comments are relevant to the post, however.Add Your Trackback LinkMoreover, just as you would pass on to other people's blogs in a textual blog, you can refer to other people's blogs in your video blog as well. Make sure to add the trackback link to the text that you use in your video blog description.Build A Decent BlogrollLastly, develop your blog roll. A blog roll is a list of blogs that you find useful or interesting. Begin with adding important video blogs or blogs that relate to your topic to these, and request that they add your video blog to their blog roll as well.Keep in mind when we talked about how making your video publicly available would actually boost hits to your video blog? It is absolutely true. You need to upload a copy of your video to all of the top video sites. You will create a profile at each of these sites, and your profile should of course contain a link to your site. You could also opt to just make some sample videos, and upload those, instead of uploading each and every video that you do, but you won't get as much traffic from it. It all really depends on how much time you have to promote your video blog as to how often you upload to the video sites. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/How_to_Promote_Your_Video_Blog.htm 30th Dec,2009 Video Blogging Tools and Video Blog Sites Blog Video Couple with Text Based Blogs Expands InterestWhile you can find and use various low-priced tools for podcasting, the same is not necessarily true concerning tools used for video blogging. You essentially need two tools: Audio and Video editing software and a digital video camera. Depending on what you plan for your video blog, you may be able to get away with using a reasonably priced webcam - means that it is less expensive than a digital video camera. It doesn't mean that you should choose the most inexpensive webcam on the market. If you go with a webcam, choose a top of the line webcam.Note that with a webcam, you will in practice be committed to shooting your video from one place all the time. This is really only a good option if you know that this will be the case, and that the video will always be just of you, sitting in front of your camera. For better results, you should actually consider purchasing a quality digital camera. Digital cameras range in price, features, and certainly in quality. Normally, the more features and better quality you receive, the more you can expect to pay. As a business video blogger, however, this expenditure should be considered an investment in your business. You do not have to purchase top of the line equipment, but you do not want to purchase your digital camera from the bargain bin either. When you start shopping, take your time. Try out several cameras to find out which one is going to be the right one for your purposes. There are specific things that you will want your digital video camera to have. You will be presented with a many of features, but one thing that you want to keep in mind is that a single chip camera will do - you do not need a three chip camera for video that will be used on the web. You may want to consider buying a second-hand camera. You can visit an online auction site, or even your local pawn shops to find quality, used video cameras. If budgeting is a matter, this will most likely be your best option, since digital video cameras start at around $650.There are some add-ons that you will want to buy as well, including a case for your camera, and a tripod. A tripod is very important, since it will often determine whether or not you produce a quality video. Remember that there are hundreds of add-ons that you can purchase, but unless you are planning to become a professional videographer, you really won't need most of these things.Keep in mind that a great majority of video bloggers use simple webcams for their videos - not considering of how limiting it can be - just because they do not see their way clear to spending big bucks for professional video equipment. Start as cheaply as you can, and upgrade as you see a need for upgrades later. Whether you use a digital video camera or a webcam, you will find that you will need to use it some in order to learn exactly how to get the quality of video that you want. This may mean adjusting the settings on the camera, or adjusting the brightness in the room that you are shooting your video in. Make sure that your webcam - camera or otherwise - comes with documentation that tells you how to operate it. This will be a concern when purchasing used equipment. You will also need video editing software. You can use the same Video and Audio creation and editing software. If you are buying a new digital video camera, it may go together with editing software as well. Though, much of the software that is distributed in such a way is usually either very complicated to use, or not worth figuring out because it is too limited. Be prepared to buy your editing software separately. That's actually all that you need. You can have all of the needed tools for as little as $50, or as much as thousands of dollars, depending on what you buy. Again, do not go 'all out' in the beginning. Start as economically as you can, and upgrade later. There is no reason to shell out hundreds or thousands of dollars when you are just getting started. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Video_Blogging_Tools_and_Video_Blog_Sites.htm 30th Dec,2009 Yahoo Has Introduced Blogging Catching Up with Google It was Time Yahoo Did Something About Its Going Without a BlogAs usual, Yahoo likes to sit on the fence and watch what really works while its more robust competitor Google experiments with new ideas, and when it sees something really working and it is going to cost it visitors, it will jump the gun and introduce it to its customer base. One such case is the recent introduction of blogging to its paying subscribers even if Google had its Blogger site since it bought the company in 2003 and had been providing the service free ever since, which had become among the many blog providers that many people are flocking to, because it is very easy to setup, and to say the least it is state-of-the-art.Yahoo recently has hired a company called Six Apart which has developed a blogging software known as Movable Type that is not different from the other blogging software that are in use, except that the news release stated that the software is specifically optimized for Yahoo's hosting environment, probably making it 140 percent faster than the other hosting environments. The blogging is available only for those who are already using Yahoo's Web hosting service, which starts from $11.95 that includes a free domain name and a business class email. Its targets are professionals, businesses, and corporate customers unlike Blogger that is available free for anyone, even if Blogger also has a premium version that goes with Google Web hosting service. Even if the Six Apart software had a free version too, Yahoo has not said anything if it is planning to introduce the blogging service for its free subscribers that are using Geocity and its free email programs among other services, or if it will open its door for the public like Google is doing. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Yahoo_Has_Introduced_Blogging_Catching_Up_with_Google.htm 30th Dec,2009 New On Google Video Now it's easy to get your daily dose of Google Videos. I'd say you are if you answer "Yes" to any of the following:1. The smell of buttery, fresh popped-popcorn is your aphrodisiac.2. You subscribe to Netflix.3. You'd bring lawn chairs and a portable DVD player to watch prequels while waiting in line for a couple of hours to watch your most anticipated film of the year (Bonus points if you're that guy that makes the headlines because you brought a tent).4. You've worn a costume to a movie (and it was nowhere near Halloween).5. You'd drive a few hundred miles to the only theater in your state that is playing that obscure, independent, foreign film. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Movie_Trailers_on_Google_Video.htm 30th Dec,2009 This one's for you, Mac users You told us, and we listened. We've just introduced a new addition to our happy family -- the Google Video Mac Player. It's simple and compatible with most Macintosh models and software. So go ahead Mac-heads -- download free videos like Evolution of Dancing, premium shows like CSI, and music videos like Train's "Give Myself To You".And by the way -- did I mention that the Google Video Mac Player is a Universal binary which means it runs natively on both Intel and PowerPC Macs. Have fun! http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/This_one_s_for_you_Mac_users.htm 30th Dec,2009 New Feature: Link within a Video Has this ever happened to you? You're watching this documentary on monkeys and then halfway through, this monkey does the funniest thing ever. So of course, you want nothing more than to share this hilarious monkey moment with your friends. Now, on Google Video, doing just that is easier than ever. Now you can email links to specific points inside a video! All you have to do is add the time you'd like to share to the end of a video's URL. We support hours (h), minutes (m), and seconds (s). For example, Invisible Board is a 1 min 46 sec long video but I believe the coolest part is at 1 min 26 sec, so all I have to do is add #1m26s to the link I'm going to send to my friends! Just like this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6396990712930217422#1m26sHere's another example. Music and the Mind is a really interesting lecture from UCTV, but I don't want my friends to have to sit through the first half hour to get to the best part. So all I have to do is add #35m24s to the end of the URL and send them this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1267626298712917200#35m24s http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/New_Feature_Link_within_a_Video.htm 30th Dec,2009 New Feature: Embed videos with a specific start point We've always tried to make embedding a video as easy as possible. Recently, we added the ability to link to a specific point in a video, but it wasn't clear how to embed with a specific start point. If you want to share a specific part of a video on your blog or website, these directions should be helpful.1. Get the embed code (Click on the 'Embed - Blog - Post to MySpace' button, and then the 'Embed HTML' link):2. Copy the code, and insert the followingFlashVars="initialTime=number"Where "number" is the time in seconds. For now, you can only specify seconds for embedded videos. An example of embed code using this time parameter is:And if you want, you can combine this with autoplay as well:If you're starved for inspiration, we have a couple of long videos that are new to today's Top 100 list... http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/New_Feature_Embed_videos_with_a_specific_start_point.htm 30th Dec,2009 Finally, Caption Playback By now, you may have noticed that we've just introduced a small but significant new feature that many of us have long awaited: playback of captions and subtitles! If you haven't tried it yet, you can go to this page, select a captioned video, and while playing it you can click on the symbol to turn captions on and off.Although many of us are responsible for making this possible, it's particularly meaningful to me because I'm not only an engineer fortunate enough to work on Google Video -- I'm also deaf. In some ways this reminds me of when closed-captioning (CC) was first introduced; before that, little on TV made sense and the only movies worth paying for were foreign films, because those were the only ones with subtitles! I now have the same sense of hope that I did then, when you could finally see visible progress and knew for sure that however long it took to perfect things, we really were on the way.But I won't kid you -- there are still light-years to go, and I'm painfully aware of how limited our first implementation is. For example, you'll notice that it only works for videos using our Flash player (in a browser); US viewers may be bothered that our captions look more like subtitles than TV captions, and non-US viewers may be baffled by the [CC] symbol; and so on and on, not even counting the bugs that infect all new features. But most importantly by far, only a very small fraction of videos are currently captioned. Nor is the quality always good. However, this is exactly the same problem faced by the early proponents of CC, and it is this very issue which has compelled us to start with baby mis-steps sooner, rather than a giant leap of perfection later. Now that viewers can see the results, we hope that more people will be inspired to caption more videos, and that other services will be encouraged to support similar capabilities. The potential applications here for search quality, automatic translation, and speech recognition should also become more obvious.Every time I watch TV I'm thankful to all of the many people who first developed and brought closed-captioning to fruition, and wish I could have helped them. So it's enormously gratifying that Google Video has given me an opportunity to help carry on their work into new domains. And you, too, can help! Please do send us your comments, bug reports, or suggestions; whether or not you think they're new, your collective feedback will be invaluable in helping us promote these capabilities and guide our decisions on which features need to be done next.-- Ken Harrenstien http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/Finally_Caption_Playback.htm 30th Dec,2009 Google Video Launches in Australia! With our newest feature, unlisted videos, you can upload videos without making them publicly available in the Google Video search results and share them with only those people you want to see them. Are you a proud new mom and dad? Maybe you want to share a video of the newest addition to your family with grandparents who live an ocean away.Or maybe your college roommate's rendition of "It's Raining Men" was absolutely historic, but he'd hunt you down and destroy you if you shared the video with the world.Or it could be that you're an up-and-coming filmmaker who doesn't want those Hollywood sharks stealing your original screenplay before you get an agent. Now, for all of the above instances, you can just unlist your video and share the link only with the people you trust.Unlisting videos is easy. All you have to do is check the "Unlisted" option when uploading your video(s) at http://video.google.com/videouploadform. You'll then get a unique URL that you can email to anyone you want - and no one else. http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/New_Feature_Choose_Your_Audience_with_Unlisted_Videos.htm 30th Dec,2009 New: Embedded Video Search You may have noticed the "Embedded Video Search" module we added to our blog awhile back (look to the right). It's something that you can easily add to your website or blog as well. For more information, check out the How-To page for the Video Search solution. There's also a Video Bar if you just want a vertical or horizontal strip of videos instead of the entire searcher. Both of these are built on top of the Google AJAX Search API, and that team is always adding new features to improve these solutions.-- Tom Stocky, Product Marketing Manager http://www.arablaws.org/article/article/New_Embedded_Video_Search.htm 30th Dec,2009 Google Video and NHL games Wanna see a recent National Hockey League game you missed?
